As if I didn't have enough TV shows that I follow, I've become a fan of the new Dragnet on ABC. Whodathunkit to cast Al Bundy as Joe Friday? But really, Ed O'Neill is filling Jack Webb's shoes pretty well. I remember watching the second Dragnet TV series, when Webb was still doing it in the late '60s, on Nick at Nite. Maybe they really were the "good ol' days" back then, because I remember the old Dragnet didn't deal with murders all the time - they had kidnappings, bomb threats, lost/missing children, fraud, even a tsunami once. Now it seems every cop show has to have a scene in which the cops make one-liners standing over a dead body. Case in point, Jerry Orbach's Lenny Briscoe my other favorite cop show, Law & Order. Well, maybe the Dick Wolf connection between the two shows has something to do with the joking over corpses...
