Selections from Saturday's and Sunday's NY Times:

Tom Friedman comes out with another bitch-slap against Bush's "Good ideas for Iraqis, gluttony for Americans" policy, especially on gasoline policy.

NJ public schools take a beating from the No Child Left Behind act's rating system. And, are colleges spending too much money on frills to attract applicants and not enough on the curriculum?

Ted Turner is betting the farm on bison burgers made from farm-raised American buffalo. I like them the way they're made at Scotty's, a greasy spoon near my old apartment in NYC, with a bit of Tabasco sauce, cole slaw, fries, and a pickle.

David M. Kennedy co-wrote the later editions of Thomas Bailey's The American Pageant, one of my high school history textbooks currently in its 12th edition. Now, he sheds some historical light on the California recall.

The Immigrant Workers' Freedom Ride rolls into Flushing Meadows Park in Queens.

Northern Asia travel: NY Times writers explore Mongolia and Sakhalin Island.
